Essento

“ Establishing the visual identity of a category and spotlighting the pioneers ”

How do you create the visual identity for a food category that is entirely new to the European market? With edible insects, everything had to be invented from scratch. MedusaPack took on this challenge on behalf of Essento, a pioneering startup based in Zurich.

We drew on familiar visual cues to encourage acceptance and help break a dietary taboo.

To convey the unique crunch of the textures, the design relies on angular and dynamic patterns. Splashes of bright colors express the richness and diversity of flavors. The visual identity blends the codes of meat products (deep black, bold and assertive typography) with those of the vegetarian world (colorful palettes and natural textures).

Changing eating habits takes time, education, and a strong brand. With the support of Coop, Essento has gradually built its market presence, product by product, establishing itself as a leading player in sustainable food.

Beyond innovation, insects open up new culinary possibilities and offer a source of protein with a low environmental impact.
